I will have three 5-gallon kegs: IPA, Cider, and Basswood Mead. I will probably have about a gallon of Lemon Mead in a 1 3/4 gallon keg. I will plan to run that with party tapper about the time I start making another batch of lemon mead.

Re: Nov 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
Does anyone have an opinion on selling off our taster glasses we have at Benz? If we have to change our name and logo, which it sounds like we will have to do, or just to get rid of a bunch of them.
Sell them for $1 each for people to use as sample glasses while we are pouring.

Sell or give away. What did they cost us? Would be pretty cool to let people sample with a real glass to take home.

Excellent - glad to hear we'll have the 6-tap setup.
Will we need to bring ice or will the Market have some available for us?

NewBo is providing ice. I do not know how much they have, but if we have to, I will run out and buy a few bags to cover what we need.tony b wrote:Excellent - glad to hear we'll have the 6-tap setup.

Re: Nov 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
This is new.....I just received an e-mail requesting that I pass along these guidelines that need to be followed as per there Liquor License.....
We are excited to have you all feature your homebrew and sample it to the guests of the market!
The Market holds a liquor license and this event features alcohol so there are some rules that need to be followed:
You will be provided with a bar front, a table, ice, and 2oz sample cups.
Samples of beer can only be served in the 2oz sample cups.
Guests can have two 2oz samples of each beer, no more, according to Iowa state law.
Please refer to the rules taken from the IowaABD below:
185—16.7 (123) Tasting.
16.7(1) Restrictions.
a. The amount of product served per person during a tasting shall be limited to the following.
(1) No more than two one half of one-fluid-ounce tastes of any brand of alcoholic liquor.
(2) No more than two one-fluid-ounce tastes of any brand of wine.
(3) No more than two two-fluid-ounce tastes of any brand of beer or high alcoholic content beer.
b. Product shall not be served to, or allowed to be consumed by, any consumer who is under legal age, intoxicated, or simulating intoxication.
c. Product served during a tasting shall not be served by persons under 18 years of age
Due to these state regulations, we ask that you please respect our space and our liquor license. Our license extends to the edge of the awning on our patio; please no alcoholic beverages beyond the awning. We cannot allow anyone outside to be served in more than a "sample" size of 2oz. Outside alcohol is not for personal consumption, anyone wanting a full serving of beer will need to get it at NewBo Beer and Wine. We ask that if you do consume your own beer, that you do so in 2oz servings.

Re: Nov 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
At last week's meeting, we discussed who would bring what (outside of personal set-ups for brewing)....here is what I have from my notes:
Milk Crates, Burner, Chiller, and Mill - Joel
10 Gal Kettle - Travis
Propane - Daryl (three tanks)
Key for the Water - Stephen
Hose Splitter - Tony
We could use an extension cord or two....just in case! Can someone bring one or two?
CO2 - if we have the tap box, we will need CO2 - can someone spare some CO2?
Banner/Banners - Might be one of the last times we use them....will anyone be making a trip to the trailer? If so, please grab these and the t-shirts and swag to sell.
Sample Glasses - ??? do we want to sell?

Re: Nov 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
Sounds like what we do at Jimmy Carter, so not a biggie.
What's interesting, as I read what she said and from the quoted statute - we can give away unlimited samples of beer/mead/cider, as long as we don't serve an individual more than 2 samples of EACH beer. So, we can let them sample everything we bring, TWICE, 2 oz at a time. Don't see that as a problem for anybody.

Re: Nov 4 - AHA Learn to Homebrew Day
I helped pick up equipment at lunch today. Here is what you will have from the trailer dropped off tomorrow.
--6 Tap portable tower, with CO2 manifold and regulator
--6+ small plastic tubs, they stack together if you don't need that many, I just grabbed a pile
--Table for the tap box with hole in it for tubing to pass through
--NO battery or pump system since not that hot not worried about chilling tower
--Two CO2 tanks so if one blows you should be OK
--T-shirts and stuff, but no glasses. Aren't those at Benz?
--Did not grab any of the banners or the chalk boards, still in the trailer.
--Ball lock QDs installed and a bag of others. I don't recall Pin locks being in there so grab from tool box in trailer or bring some with if you need some. All MFL type so easy to swap out.
My weather app says 44F at 10AM increasing to 48F at 4PM. If you set up bar outside I would suggest do not bother with ice and stuff. Kegs should be cold enough as is. Gauge on regulator broke. Does not leak but will not read pressure accurately. I would crank it to low pressure, open a tap and increase pressure until pours right. If pouring good you are around 10-12 psi.
I believe Mark Jensen will be bringing the tap equipment in the morning.
