I have a three person canoe and plenty of extra lifevests for boating. Sounds like my canoe will be just me and two empty seats for whoever wants to ride. How many people need a tube still? I'll be picking up the tubes later this week.

Kurt, are you bringing your canoe out to Pinicon Ridge or do you need me to stop by to pick it up?

Jim P, yeah those are dangerous. You are supposed to stay out of those. If you find yourself heading towards one that you cannot avoid, bail or reach out towards it and push your canoe away at an angle. It is a highly technical move but kept me from dumping in rapids while I was living in Missouri. Your canoe would also require a little curve to its bottom. Won't work in a flat bottom canoe with no roll.

Jim F, my cousin may be hauling two of the canoes in his red neck mobile/monster truck so right now I won't need you Saturday morning. Will let you know for sure at the meeting Thursday.

Unfortunately, I was "duffing" at the time, so I didn't have much say in the matter.

I'll find transportation for my canoe, whether it's the falcon or I barrow a car and trailer.

Still wondering if I need to bring the tubes. I have a 3 person canoe with 2 seats up for grabs and was wondering if we were going to be short canoes?

Right now we have 10 confirmed canoers and possibly two more. With your three seat canoe I think we will be fine with just the canoes we have. No one has stepped up to say they prefer to tube yet. I know you have asked several times.

Canoes:
-Kurt F -- 1 three-person canoe
-Matt -- 3 two-person canoes (any of these can carry a third)
-kjball -- 1 canoe

kjball, I can come pick up your canoe. I would like to do so before Saturday so I am ready to roll that morning. Let me know when, where, etc... You can PM me or post here.

You can add me to Canoe trip but not camping. My wife’s birthday weekend and I need to take her out for dinner.

Matt, I'm still available if your cousin can't make it or you need someone to haul an additional canoe. Talk to you at the meeting.

Sounds good Brian. Since you are heading home after the float, could you drop a couple of us off at the beginning of the canoe route when we are done? We will need to grab a couple vehicles we used to transport the canoes.

Kurt, why don't you grab a couple tubes. We can throw them in the canoes and people can use them at will as Brian mentioned.

Tim, I talked to the park ranger and as long as the site remains open, which it still is, we can drop off your pop-up and park some cars at the site before we start the canoe trip.

Let's meet at the boat ramp just pass the boat rental stand at Pinicon Ridge at 11:30 am. I attached a picture and some information about the canoe route. From there we can arrange to drop off cars and campers at the campsite and then start the float trip. Cell phone reception may be an issue in the park so make sure you are there. I plan to be there by 11 so if you want to get there then to drop stuff at the camp that may help us get on the water.

Worked on the falcon for most of today and ran into some more complications. Will be going to my parents place friday night to get the car and trailer and grab a few tubes too.

I have three canoes at my place and will get the fourth from Kent yet this week. I am hauling two and my cousin is hauling the other two. Kurt is working on his. We have 11 people so 5 canoes including Kurt's three seater should be perfect. Plus some tubes for jumping in.

I will bring 2 life jackets.

I think having a couple of tubes is a good idea. It's gonna be hot on saturday, and rotating to a tube for a bit might be nice.

How are we set for firewood. Are we buying it at the park?

I am assuming food is BYO. Any plans for a group feed, or are we going to go every man for himself. I'm planning on hot dogs and chips for my food. I have a cooking grate the suspends above the campfire on a tripod if we want it. I saw there are 2 fire rings, so we could get one going to sit around, and another with coals for cooking on.

How many folks are spending the night? Does everyone have a place to sleep?

Bring your life jackets so now we are up to 6 officially with Kurt and Kent also having some.

I friend of mine, Ben, said he plans to make it for camping. He is bringing some dry rub ribs (2 racks) and probably some brauts/buns/fixins to feast on. He also plans to bring a trunk full of firewood.

I may try to throw some firewood in my car too. They say you have to get it at the park but I have seen info on free wood and also that it is available at $5 a bundle. It is the emerald ash borer issue. I am bringing a good hand saw to cut stuff we find. It is what I use in the Boundary Waters.

I was also planning the hot dog and chips route for simplicity. I may have some deer brats in the freezer to bring too. I think there is a grill so I may bring some charcoal in case some one wants to use that. Could shovel coals form the main fire up in to the grill too which works well.

I am spending the night. I will bring my tent in the car and use it if necessary. The fee again is $13 per sleeping unit. The more we share the less we pay. If the forecast remains dry Saturday night and lows in the 60s, I plan to sleep out under the stars on my sleeping pad, no tent.

I'm bringing a small, table-top propane grill. I'm planning on bringing some hot dogs and chips of some sort. I've got a 2 person tent that I can use if it rains.
