Ok,

Its just about here, according to many of the beer blog sites Hopslam will be hitting shelves on January 10th, which will include the new Mini-Keg unsure if we will see any, hopefully we will.

So Hopslam watch will begin on Monday. Please post sightings of the mystical creature for fellow Beer Nuts.

Also a couple of notes for those that travel.

Lost Abby to release Angel's share - January 15th

Avery Brewing to release Margarete - January 28th

Mmm...Hopslam.

I have seen Bell's Expedition Stout around. Was at Hy-Vee on Edgewood last night. $16.99/6-pack.

Red’s Alehouse in NL will have a special tapping on Tuesday 11th. They are having a Hopslam release party, says 6 pm but they may start as early as 11 AM.

I went to the Red's event last night. It was a good time. Chatted with the Bell's guy for quite a while and picked up a couple pieces of info to pass on.
First, Batch 10000 is gone at Red's. The only keg they got blew last night. El Bait shop in Des Moines got the other keg. I have no idea if they have any left. Red's got 4 kegs of Hopslam. They emptied one last night. ($7.50/pint) Also, Bell's is releasing Hopslam in 5L cans this year. As far as the batch 10000 goes, apparently this is the last of that series. I guess Larry Bell want's to "go another direction" regarding the special releases. Whatever that means. Anyway. good event, good beer.

That’s sounds good, thanks for the info. I believe I am heading there today after work to drink a few. I will be there between 3:30-6:00 if anyone cares to join me. I figured yesterday would be crazy and today would be a better day to relax and enjoy a nice Hop Slam. http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/bells-hopslam/35488/

Thanks,

Brian

Also, I just got an email from Benz. They have 6-packs for $17.99.

Wayne at the Center Point Rd. HyVee Liquor Store just called me and said he has 5 cases of Hop Slam in stock as of right now.

In about 1 hr, this will be reduced by a couple of six packs.

I was at Red's yesterday as well. I got there at 3:30 and left right around 5 so I missed the "official" tapping, but they were serving up glasses like it was nobody's business. The Hopslam of course was tasty, but the Batch 10,000 was downright delicious. I was very glad to have gotten served a full glass of it instead of a little 4 oz sample. That surprised me. In any case, I have a six pack of it stashed away and had tried one of the bottles when I first got it. It has developed quite nicely in the past month or so.

I don't think Bigfoot gets released for a couple more weeks. It always seems to come out on the heavy side of Jan if I recall...

I bought a 6-pack of Hopslam @ the Center Point Rd. Hy-Vee for $17.99. They only had two 6-packs left and a few singles when I left. They also have the Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence in 750ml for $13.99. It was labeled as $15.99 but they said that was wrong. I grabbed a bomber of Madhouse (Newton, IA) IPA. It is made with Iowa hops.

I was there a little after 5 PM. They had some behind the counter on hold. Who got 'em?

I wasn't real pleased with the Madhouse. Let me know what you think.

Matt, I got the other sixer… CJ was there too and he couldn’t shake them loose on the two cases they had reserved for folks. So while I was there CJ called up another Hy-vee on edgewood, no go.. and then took off to benz which had a few left for the same price.

Lesson learned is at Hy-vee center point, its NOT first come first serve.. call ahead. News to me. Wish I would of noticed the Choc Indulgence.

I’m sure CJ will pipe in later tonight J

and thanks for letting me grab the last one CJ, although I was bummed because I wanted more.
