Strong Ale Tasting - 2/26 8pm
Just wanted to post and make this official. Got a room booked at the Longbranch for February 26th. I was thinking $5 a person and a minimum of 22oz a person as an entry fee/donation/whatever you want to call it to help cover the cost of the room.
Please post if you plan to attend and what you plan on bringing. Hopefully this will prevent too many duplicate beers. Also feel free to post if you have an idea on how the tasting should work, when to open bottles, beer order, etc.
I was thinking of maybe having a table that had about 5 or so beers opened, when one beer is emptied maybe get a vote around the room on what should be opened next. But I'm up for however the majority wants to do it.

I'm in. I'll bring a Fuller's Vintage, unless I happen to have something better to bring on hand.

I am in.
I have a De Proef-Terrapin Collaboration Monstre Rouge which is an imperial flanders red collaboration beer between Terrapin Brewing in Georgia and De Proef in Belgium. Here is a good description of the beer.

I also have a Gread Divide 16th Anniversary Wood Aged Double IPA available.

Did I miss the critiria for the high proof beers, does this need to be commercial beers, can someone bring their homebrew. And is this for high proof beers only, right? is there an age requirement or gernal rule of ABV your shooting for. Just want to know if i have anything here that can qualify for this event.
Sounds like fun, great idea.

Sorry I didn't post any requirements for the beer. I was hoping it would just be commercial beers, since we generally drink the homebrew at the meetings. No age requirement for the beers. ABV I'd say 7% and over? Does that sound fair? Doesn't have to be anything hard to get, but it would be awesome if it was.Mr T wrote:Did I miss the critiria for the high proof beers, does this need to be commercial beers, can someone bring their homebrew. Drats… but Jim, I respect you more for knowing how to spell it! In fact thanks to the new alcohol law you can now get the HG Olde English! 8% in IA, last time I found that I was in Vegas and it came in a tattoo tall boy can.
