Jimmy Carter Happy Hour

I was at El Bait Shop in Des Moines this weekend and read about their Thursday night Happy hour. The feature local home brewers on Thursday evenings. We would basically be butting in on IBU's territory the way we whooped up on CRAZE. The person who sets it up wasn't there but I was told to contact them if we would be interested in participating. I have no details whatsoever at this time. I just wanted to throw the idea out there for discussion before the next meeting to see if there would be any interest. It would be quite a commitment for us to travel 2 hours for this, and I'm not sure what the reward would be. If there's any interest, I could contact the people there and bring any info to the next meeting. Let me know.

Thanks KJ, I’ve actually seen the list for last year or so, it fills up pretty fast, they actually have quite a few volunteers from the DM area. I thought about participating in this but it would require me to take an afternoon or at least early to get down there and setup my keg. You basically get a meal provided by the High life next door and you give away your beer for a couple of hours or until its gone whatever comes first.

I don’t know of any award or contest, so this is just merely an informal every Thursday deal where you drink a few beers while talking to patrons about the beer your giving away.

The next problem you have is if you enjoyed a few too many beers (which is easy at the El Bait) you have a 2 hour drive home, I think has been the biggest wall for me, I’d need a room or a DD, which isn’t always easy to find on a Thursday night.

A real man would punch a waitress and spend the night in jail.

I see you've done my homework already. I was going to see if they would allow us to send a few (2-4) people to represent the club on a single night. It would definitely involve a hotel night for me. There's no way I'm driving after spend a couple hours in that place. Again, there will really be no return on our time and beer spent there.

Sounds like fun to me.

I'll do it.

I might be interested too depending on when. Even if I don't have a keg (actually 1/2 keg) ready I'd go just to drink as I've always wanted to go there but almost never get over to DM. I'd go in a a room with a club member.

It sounds like there's at least a little interest. I'll contact them and see what they would be open to. I don't want to step on any toes here. Is there a process? or do I just go ahead and do it? I'll wait for the go-ahead before I do anything.
