February 15 2007 Meeting - Jim Potts's House

Post by DaveCo »

The February 15 2007 Meeting will be held at Jim Potts's House.

The style of the month: Bocks and Doppelbocks. But to paraphrase a friend: any high-gravity beer will do.

(And for those of you who wanted to know, the "best guess" that google's dictionary comes up with for doppelbock is backstopped.

My address (click for a map): 4202 Pineview Dr NE, Cedar Rapids

Directions (from i-380): take the 42nd Street exit, and head west.
Pineview is the 2nd street on the right past Kennedy High. I'm on the east corner of 42nd and Pineview.

Meeting specs

Post by Mr T »

Jim or anyone,

I'm new to the group and interested in meeting the group at the next meeting. Could someone give me some more info on what time you meet, about for how long, how much brew should I bring or anything else that would be beneficial to know so I don't show up looking completely lost, empty handed and late.

Always Thirsty-

The meeting starts at 7:00. It generally lasts until the last person leaves. (Most business is over by 8:30.) At the last meeting, I think we decided that we wouldn't do club business until 8, to give everyone a chance to get there. (I could be misremembering, though). In any case, if you're late, you won't be the only one.

As for amount of beer, usually a bottle or two of any beer is enough to go around for sampling. A growler is more than enough.

Thanks for hosting the meeting this month Jim. I think everyone enjoyed themselves. It was good to see Hunter again and to have an old member to return. I hope you come to the next meeting Travis.

Thanks Dave (assuming you talking about Mr. T -Travis, it was great meeting a good chunk of the group. The group has come a long way since I was there four or so years ago. The bocks were great, except the cobalt blue number, but appreciated the chance to taste it aged. It was also great Jim hosted since I only live about five blocks away.

Was the next style picked yet, I believe it is at Matt's?
