Does anyone have 10# of flaked wheat they would like to sell? I'll be placing an order for it on Monday if not. I mis-read a recipe and ordered White Wheat Malt instead of flaked wheat. Anyone have any idea on how that would work in a Wit?

I think it would still make a good beer. The head may be thinner, as well as the mouthfeel, and I suspect that the characteristic "white" haze may be lessened.

I think you can do a fine wit with white wheat malt. I've done a couple using 2-row, white wheat, some coriander, orange zest, and wyeast 3068. Some use pils or pale malt instead of 2-row, but I've never tried flaked wheat.

Well Tom, That's pretty much what I thought I was doing until I read the recipe today. I guess I may just go with the wheat malt if it will work. Thanks for the advice guys.

A quick look at BCS, Jamil calls for pils, munich, and flaked wheat. I've never noticed a munich flavor in a wit.

I have some torrefied wheat if you want to try that in place of some of the wheat malt. I only have 5# though. I'm not sure if it's a direct replacement for flaked wheat or not...
