The U.S. Army’s Installation Management Command in Oklahoma is looking for a good brewmaster.

According to the online job posting, a responsible Army brewmaster keeps our brave soldiers in suds by overseeing the brewery and occasionally coming up with their own special recipes.

So how important is an Army brewmaster?

“Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission,” the job description notes. “They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.”

If you want to be a brewmaster for the U.S. Army, don’t expect to make much in the way of compensation. The job pays just over $22,000 a year and is “not entitled to benefits.” However, I’m sure there are some perks to the job, including taste-testing.

That's awesome. That's about $14,000 more a year then I was paid when I joined the Army. I made $647.00 a month before taxes...this was back in 1988. Now an E-1 makes $1,467.60 a month before taxes. Still poverty but better.
