Sam Adams Latitude 48 Deconstructed

Post by tony b »

From the Sam Adams folks:

Samuel Adams Latitude 48 Deconstructed

One of the fun projects we’ve taken on here at the brewery is our new Latitude 48 Deconstructed pack. In order to give you guys the chance to taste each of the unique hop varieties that go into our Samuel Adams Latitude 48 IPA, we've taken this beer apart, hop by hop, to create an all-new limited release 12-pack. The pack includes the original Samuel Adams Latitude 48, plus five new IPA variations, each brewed with only one of the five hop varieties.
• Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 Hallertau Mittelfrueh IPA -- Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops [Hallertau, Germany] create soft bitterness along with delicate lemony citrus and resinous pine notes, balanced by a slight sweetness and full body from the malt blend.
• Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 East Kent Goldings IPA-- East Kent Goldings [East Kent, UK] create a mellow bitterness with earthy, floral and apricot notes, offset by a slight sweetness and full body.
• Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 Ahtanum™ IPA-- Ahtanum™ hops [Yakima Valley, WA] contribute a very balanced and typically "American" orange peel, piney and floral flavor and aroma to this brew, tempered by a slight sweetness and full body.
• Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 Simcoe® IPA-- Simcoe® hops [Yakima Valley, WA] add bitterness and dramatic grapefruit peel and pine resin notes, with a slight sweetness and full malt body to round out the concentrated hop character.
• Samuel Adams® Latitude 48 Zeus IPA -- Zeus hops [Yakima Valley, WA] contribute bitterness and an intense, resinous pine flavor. The brew leans strongly toward the hop character, but is softened by the malt sweetness and body.
This limited-release pack is available now.

I found some of this at Johncy's in North Liberty. I will bring some tonight. Any requests?

I want one! Talked to Benz and they don't think they will be getting it, so I might have to make a trip.

I think the Simcoe, Ahtanum, and Zues were the best. Not to really any surprise I guess. If they released just the Simcoe one regularly, I would likely buy it on occasion. Its pretty tasty.
