Jalapeno Rasberry beer

Since my Jalapeno/Raasberry beer seemed to go over well at Benz I was thinking about brewing it again or something similar for the IA Fest of Beers. I just got my score sheets back from Thirsty so I'm thinking about how to improve it. Many of you tasted it at Benz or at the meeting I brought it to so I could sue some constructive feedback. I have a couple of bottles left if anyone wants to refresh their memory.
The general consensus from the score sheets were that it is a very interesting beer, but out of balance. They felt the pepper flavor was a bit strong and the fruit flavor didn't complement the beer as well as it could. A few suggested may a different style of beer would work better (I did a Blonde Ale). This resonates some with my own opinion on the beer.
But where to go next? If I change the base style to match the fruit/pepper combo better, what do yo think might be a better match? I'm using a packaged sauce for this recipe so I can only vary the amount I use, not the ratio of fruit to pepper flavor.
