This is the call for topics and host for the August Tech meeting. I've been thinking of building a heat stick. I have no idea how to do it, but one of the magazines had a feature on them within recent years. This would probably(hopefully) involve our resident electric engineer. So we could do a build-your-own style meeting, but I'm not going to have the knowledge to lead it at this time. I could try it and present in the future. Otherwise, let's hear other topics.

One good one that would be easy, is a do it yourself grain smoking tech meeting. I won't be able to make the august meeting as my son will have been born a week prior, but I think that would be an easy topic to do and a fun one to do the research for, everyone could smoke a grain with a different variety of wood and could taste them at the meeting and give the instructions.
Just a thought.

I'd be interested in helping folks build heat sticks, but since I'll be in the packing/moving process, I will not be able to make it to the August meeting.

I'd like to see a heat stick meeting but it looks like August won't work unless someone else with the skills volunteers. Another suggestion that was brought up at the last tech meeting was a brew gadget show-and-tell. People would bring along any gadgets they have found useful but are not a commonly known/used item, or even a different use for common ones. Could be either bought or made.
We could also do a tasting as they are easier to pull together. We'd agree on a style and then bring examples, commercial and homebrew to compare.
I also want to put the call out to a volunteer for hosting. We do not currently have a location for the meeting.

Sorry to nag, but we need to get this settled by Thursday so it can be "announced" at the club meeting.
Right now two topics are looking like options for the meeting: Brew Gadgets, and a tasting. For a tasting I would propose Saison as the style since it's a nice Summer beer. Please post a vote for which topic you'd like.
We also really need a host for this.
Please, we need your input to keep these meetings going...

Interesting, I have a Saison on tap right now that I would like to compare. We could couple a summer tasting and gadget show-and-tell, as I don't see either of them taking that long, especially with the smallish group that normally attends. The heat sticks would be good for a future meeting when we have some time to set up an order for parts.

That would be great. I also have a Saison that's fermenting right now that I was planning to bring. If anyone else has one please bring it. If you have a commercial example bring those as well. I may try to find a couple.

I've got a couple fermenting now, and I also have a few I picked up mostly at Johns. Sounds like a plan.
