Benz and Blairs Ferry Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits carry some basic supplies and dry yeast. Check Midwest Supplies.com and Northernbrewer.com for anything and everything you need.

The Coralville Hy Vee on the strip has a small amount of base malt, a few specialty grains, an assortment of Wyeast, and some of the basic equipment, (air locks, stoppers, etc).

Beer Crazy is well worth the drive IMO, they have a great variety of ingredience and equipment, as well as an excellent selection of beers. Pick up your supplies in the AM and then spend the afternoon and evening in downtown DSM at one of the many beery places. But plan on getting a room close to stay the night or have a dd.
