12" lid For a Keggle

Post by Matt F »

Does anybody have a 12" lid from a pot they don't need anymore. Looking to make my HLT opening larger so my chiller can fit in it. It was already cut for a 10" lid I was using.

Matt,

Per a suggestion from Brian/Dave, I use aluminum Pizza pans for my lids. I think I may have a spare if you are interested. You could trace the size and cut it with a drimal, then just buy a cabnit handle from Menards and you have a lid.

Lid me know if you are interested and I will see if I can dig up a pan (bought from Rapids, and you have to buy like 8 at a time).

Does your wife snicker every time you say, "keggle?"

I am holding out for a glass lid right now but that may change. Not sure if it holds heat that well but probably better than a pizza pan. I turn on my HLT sometimes the night before a brew so my water is already heated up and I would like it to hold some heat. The current 10" glass lid is also my current "sight tube." My last one came from an old pan I got rid of.

I picked up a 12" glass lid at Bed, Bath and Beyond today. It was nicer than I was looking for but after 20% off the regular price and another 20% coupon I had, it was under $13 so I got it.
