It's time to take a sick day, everyone. Call the boss, fake a cough, and come to Reds...we've got a lot of beer for you to drink! Friday, September 30th, Reds Alehouse will be hosting an 18-tap takeover featuring the fine ales from Bell's Brewery! Bell's is one of the fastest growing craft breweries to come out of the Midwest, and they're 'quest for a better beer' philosophy has produced many quality brews. All 18 kegs (the poster says 16, but we got two more) will be tapped by 11am, so at least come in and spice up your lunch break. Currently, the tap list will include the following:
Amber
Two Hearted
Porter
Pale Ale
Oktoberfest
Oberon
Kalamazoo Stout
Java Stout
Cherry Stout
Expedition Stout
Third Coast Old Ale
Best Brown
Oarsman
Double Cream Stout
Rye Stout
Consecrator
Lager Of the Lakes
Third Coast Beer
We will also be tapping four of these beers outside on the patio, and the infamous Jay Johnson will be grilling brats for your enjoyment (or for his enjoyment, we're not sure)! All indoor and outdoor seating will be first come, first served with a full menu all night. Sorry, no reservations, call-ahead seating, or happy hour. We'll have Bell's gear to give away as well, so show us your "beer geek" enthusiasm and it could be yours! Also, if you ride your bike to the event we will give you a free pint from the beer tent.
We're excited to be hosting an awesome beer event like this, and we guarantee you will have a great time! Come enjoy some of your old Bell's favorites or take this opportunity to try something new. The tunes will be rockin' and the beer will be flowin'! See you there!

I am taking a half day on Friday, but will be taking family on a long weekend to some cabins, wish I could make it.
After checking their website and not meaning to get off topic, BUT:
Is Red's Ale house Sunday brunch any good?
If Yes,
Price?
Good Time to go?
I would like to take wife and kids sometime.
Have a couple of beers for me, would be interested to know how the on tap Marzen beers taste(Ayinger Oktoberfest, Rogue Maierfest Lager). How about a full report from those attending.

I can't comment on their brunch, but their food in general is very good.

Brunch is pretty good. I think it's 12 or 15. We always enjoy it. Good fruits, yogurt, granola, etc... and then the good stuff eggs, meats, waffles, cakes casaroles, and then usually two hunks of meat with a guy there to shave some off. Usually ham and roast beef. Then at the end you get a large and tasty cinnamon roll that is the best part. Unless you get a good beer to go with it which then becomes the best part. They also have 8 dollar-ish bottomless mimosas. I've been three times with the wife and we'll go back.

Went to Red's after the Iowa Pitt game. I had Toppling Goliath (Decorah) Zeelander and my wife had Ayinger Oktoberfest. The Ayinger was by far better than Zeelander. Zeelander had a very tropical fruit taste and was just not a very drinkable IPA. Had to move on to Petrus Oud Bruin. That was a very good sour! Finished with 2 for 1 Two Hearted during happy hour. Life was very good that day! So, moral is Ayinger's Oktoberfest is an excellent beer.

HiVee Drug on Blairs Ferry has bombers of Ayinger Oktoberfest. I've compared it to Spaten Oktoberfest and like the Ayinger better for what its worth.

I think Sam Adam's has the best octoberfest beer again this year. They have that style down pat. 6.99 a six pack at hy-vee right now.
