Firestone Walker was a big winner this year with 3 gold medals. Other highlights from somewhat local brewers:
New Glarus: Gold for Raspberry Tart (Fruit Beer), Gold for Blacktop IPA (ABA)
Town Hall: Silver for LSD (Herb and Spice Beer), Silver for Eye or the Storm (Specuialty Honey Beer), Gold for Hope and King (Scottish-Style Ale)
Capital: Gold and Bronze in Dopplebock or Eisbock
Millstream: Gold for Black Road Stout (American Stout)
Vintage Brewing: Silver for Wee Heavy (Scotch Ale)
Also of note for local popularity: Bell's got a Gold for Expedition Stout (Aged Beers).
<soapbox> I think GABF's awards are made much less meaningful since they have so many overlapping styles. It seams like they are trying to just give a medal to everyone. I mean both "Scotish-Style Ale" and "Scotish Ale"? Seven different Stout categories, five "Wood-Aged" or "Aged" beer categories...</soapbox>

I had not tried their stout lately. According to their website they re-did the recipe and released it in March 2010 as their first beer over the old Iowa alcohol limit. Will have to give it a try.
