Yeah, I know, he sold out, blah, blah, blah. Well, he is speaking in IC if anyone is interested. I had no idea he was a graduate of the University of Iowa.
Goose Island CEO to speak at the UI
John Hall, CEO of the Chicago-based Goose Island Beer Co., will speak at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business.
Mr. Hall's talk is part of the college's Sandage Entrepreneurial Speaker Series, sponosored by the college and the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center. It will be held in room
W151 of the Pappajohn Business Building, with a reception following in room W401. The lecture is free; the reception is $5 per person.
To attend, RSVP through the attached link: http://johnhall.eventbrite.com/
Mr. Hall founded Goose Island in 1986 after reading a Delta Magazine article about boutique beers. He determined the time was right to launch a craft beer and did so in his hometown. The Goose Island Brewpub opened in 1988 and its success prompted Mr. Hall to open a larger brewery and bottling plant to keep up with demand. In addition to its original brewpub, Goose Island opened a second near Wrigley Field.
A 2006 agreement between Goose Island and Anheuser-Busch provided the company with wider distribution. This enabled the company to expand its geographic reach while staying true to its craft brewing roots.
This spring, it was announced that AnheuserBusch would purchase Goose Island Beer Company in a deal totaling $38.8 million. As part of the agreement, production of Goose Island beers would continue in Chicago, with AnheuserBusch investing heavily in the company's manufacturing capacity. Mr. Hall will remain as CEO and will continue to be responsible for production and expansion.
