Devil Beer

Next Sunday I'll be brewing up for the first time my Belgian Pale Ale from which I will be using the cake from for a Belgian Golden Strong.

Hopefully this goes better than my screwed up brew day today where I did a clone of Bells Two Hearted (mmmm Centennial). I forgot to add the Irish Moss and yeast nutrient. Also missed my target OG by a few points low.

Everyone has days like this right?

I have cool names for the beers for the next two weeks though.

The BPA is called Mephisto's Fructification and the BGS is to be called Mephisto's Unholy Covenant.

Oh yeah, I'll be starting about 2pm. 815 15th St SE in CR.

The good thing is I don't think you'll notice any of those mistakes. A few points OG doesn't matter. The lack of irish moss will just add a little extra trub and a normal beer has plenty of nutrient for the yeast. It'll be fine.

Oh, and a devil beer is great for getting though the winter. I try to do 3-4 big beers in the fall for that long no brew time.

I was planning on doing this Sunday but I pooched up my last brew by opening up and mixing the wrong hops. I'm waiting on new Tettnagers so I'll have to push this back to 10-29 or 30.

Brewed the Belgian PA on 10-31 and doing the Belgian Golden Strong on the cake of WLP570 from the BPA today.

90 min mash and a 75 min boil makes for a long brew day. I guess that's why I started at 8am.
