Homebrewers:

We are very excited to be hosting the fifth annual “Beers to You and Gourmet, Too,” an event that raises funds for the Friends of the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from this event will support the Buck A Kid program, Kaleidoscope, programming and other various needs for the Center. So, mark your calendar for Sunday, February 26, 2012! This year’s event promises to be better than ever with outstanding food samples from the finest restaurants in the Cedar Valley AND some great beer from local, national and home brewers!

Date: Sunday, February 26, 2012
Place: Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, Waterloo IA
Time: 3-7 p.m.
Bob Cannon Presentation & Food Contest judging: 3 p.m.
Public Beer and Food Tasting: 4-7 p.m.
Awards Announcement: 6 p.m.

We are thrilled to welcome guest speaker Bob Cannon to this year’s event as guest speaker and homebrew contest judge. You may recognize him as the “face of Sam Adams.” Last year we opened a VIP Area to the event, where attendees who purchased the upgraded ticket were allowed entry to taste high proof beers and specialty beverages. This year the homebrew contest will be the VIP area. Attendees of past events continuously tell us how much they enjoy the home brewers. What would be a better way to highlight talented home brewers than featuring them as the VIP section? We need your help to make it successful!

I got another email from the contact person for this event. She said that the Feb 10th date is the date to have your entry forms in. You don't have to have any beer until the 26th. Also, anyone wanting to pour beer on tap for the tasting portion is welcome to do so, as long as you have all your own tapping equipment.

Can we bring our entry in a keg and just pour from there or do we need to bring the case of beer in bottles? Sounds like fun. Not sure if I am in yet. To far out on the schedule to tell.

I emailed the lady and asked that. She said that draft was ok for the judging too.

We'll be in Dubuque for hockey. So, unless I decide to miss his games that day, I am out.

I have a batch brewing for this event. If it is up to par I will enter. I have also volunteered to pour at Brrr Fest.
I would like to represent Beernuts at both events, but I do not have any Beernuts swag.
When is the next time the club will be ordering apparel?

Club T-shirts and iron-on logo patches are both available. Contact Tim Sines (brownbeard), Club Prez, to make arrangements to get one before the next Club meeting in Feb.

I can't do Brrrfest this weekend but still want to go to this event in Waterloo. Still a maybe as family stuff tends to pop up and trump my beer events. I have an IPA I will keg tonight and a Pale Ale next week that may be ready to go for this event. All hoppy of course!

I may miss my son's game that day, and take an entry. Maybe the "berliner weiss" I have in the secondary. If I do go, I would like to ride up with someone.
