Beware of prices at Home Depot

Sorry Home Depot fans but I have had another large price discrepency between Home Depot and Menards. I often find price differences between Home Depot and Menards that are very significant. I ran in to this on many projects. The last time was while building my exhaust for the brewery. Galvanized duct work was twice as much at Home Dept versus Menards. Yesterday I needed a 1/2" brass coupler to make a hose connection in the brewery. At Menards they were $2.49 but were not in stock. I needed it that day so I drove down the road to Home Depot and found what I needed...for $4.65! I know it is only a couple of bucks, but in terms of percentage that is a 87% mark-up at Home Depot from Menards. Also, I have to track the retail industry in my current job. I have read many articles about Home Depot and Lowes raising prices significantly on most everything this year. Particularly small items where the consumer tends to not shop around. Be aware.
