Hi Guys,

With my venture into all grain brewing I guess I need some advice. The first thing I was wondering about is grain mills. I ordered 300# so a mill is a must. Can I get by with a corona style or should I get an adjustable roller? I am still looking for 2 more kegs to make into kettles if anyone has a non returnable sitting around. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks All,

Tom

Tom,
I use a Schmidling Maltmill and am very happy with it, although all the major mills on the market will get the job done. It basically comes down to how much money you want to spend and whether or not you want it adjustable. The corona-style mill tends to turn your grain into flour rather than giving you a good crush.

Thanks for all the input. I guess I'll bite the bullet and get a roller mill.

I have a crankandstein mill which has worked well too. I use a variable speed drill and run it slow. It is important not to mill your grain too fast.
