Magnetic Stirrers

There's a guy online selling some used magnetic stirrers. They're $15 for somewhat-beat-up, or $30 for nice-looking.

Anyone interested in going in on some with me to save shipping?

I may be interested Jim. What would the total cost be for the nicer ones? How many are avaliable?

What is the advantage to having a magnetic stirrer? I haven't done any research but I didn't think it was worth the money, but maybe for $30. Let me know or forward me a link.

Thanks

Two advantages.
1) They make for a healthier, more-active yeast culture. I recall back in bio class, we always used them when growing yeast.
2) They look cool. You get to smugly tell people, "oh, yes, that's part of my yeast lab equipment." ;)

I figure I'll get one of the less-nice-looking ones, provided shipping isn't too high. (As an example, the one on the left in this picture.)

I will take one of the less expensive ones too. Provided shipping isn't outrageous. For the money it would be good for making yeast cultures.

Count me in for 2 ugly ones, 1 if there aren't enough for everyone.

Turns out someone bought all of them right after I last posted. I'll keep my eye out for more.

If you find anymore, count me in for 2 newer ones.
