If you could get a bottle for $40, would you buy it?

One of our local vendors has an opportunity to get some, and is asking my opinion. This is a big beer, which has been rated as high as 100 on beeradvocate. It's a belgian golden strong (13+%) aged in burgundy barrels. I could see myself getting one, but I don't want to tell the guy to buy a case, and get stuck with it.

I would definately buy it with your money.

Not saying it is not worth the $40 but I would not be likely to buy one for that much. I want one, but when I have to pull the money out I would probably pass. I will gladly drink one if someone opens one in my presence though. Of course, that goes for most beers.

I'd buy one with Matt's money. Are we starting a pay it backwards thing? Yeah I'd like to try it, or go in on a bottle with several others, but I wouldn't buy a bottle myself.

I think I'd go for one.  Pricey, but it would be very cool to try.  And it's one of my favorite styles.

Benz has had it for a while. It is good and it does age well. If I remember right it was bottled in 2009.

The aforementioned Scaldis has arrived. $33.99 each, grab a buddy and split one! 100 point Belgian Strong, weighing in @ 13.5%! Aged in french pinot noir barrels, limited release. 750ml sealed with cork and basket. Reputed to be amazingly complex. You might find a bottle around somewhere, but you wont find it at our price. This beer retails at $40++. Buy it here at Blairs Ferry Road hy-Vee Drugstore for $33.99. If you have a Brew-tality registration discount card, it will apply an additional 10% off. I got 30 bottles in yesterday, there are 28 left. Again, you heard it here FIRST!

Have a great St. Patty's Day!
