I'm looking for a barley free recipe. I'm not allergic to gluten, just barley and rye. I don't care much for the gluten free beers. I can have wheat and hops. Anybody got a recipe I could try?

I never thought of cider, I'm more of a beer lover.

If you are allergic to barley you are going to be very limited. Are you doing all-grain? I don't think you'll be able to do extract, as pretty much all of the extracts contain barley. The exception being the gluten free syrups such as sorghum and rice. You may be able to do a 100% wheat beer, but you'll be very limited on styles. There are a few crystal/roasted wheats and you can try roasting your own.

Basic Brewing Radio has done some 100% wheat beers (most wheat beers have 40% to 50% wheat malt, with the rest barley malt). James Spencer, the host of Basic Brewing Radio, uses brew-in-a-bag with these mashes, since it's difficult to sparge through the thick, gluey, wheat mashes.
As Randy said, there are a few different wheat malts available. Mixing wheat and gluten free products and recipes, should allow for some variety.
