False Bottom Clearance

This is so cheap I wish I had a need for it.

I'm planning to order a hinged false bottom for my BK. If anyone wants to split shipping, let me know.

Are you getting a false bottom to filter trub and pellet hops? Which one are you looking at? I want to get a hinged bottom for my sanke mash tun from there. Would split shipping with ya.

I'm looking at the 15" hinged false bottom to filter out leaf hops. I'm going to buy some finer SS screen material to place over the top for pellet hops and trub. My plan is to use a 15" coarse FB with a 13" finer mesh screen (centered on the coarse screen) and then whirlpool in the kettle. Hopefully the hot break and pellet hops collect on the finer screen. I'm also planning to buy some bucket filters to remove the bulk of the remaining trub and pellet hops on the way into the fermenter. My gut says it'll work, but I guess we'll see. If nothing else, I'm confident the false bottom will work for leaf hops and some amount of finer mesh should help with the pellet hops.

I have a 15" perforated false bottom from SabCo for my MLT and I really like it. Having a completely clear MLT with zero obstructions between the top opening and the screen is very nice when stirring up the mash. I didn't think that thing would ever fit beneath my heating element, but I finally found a way to fold it around the element the other day.
