Madison Wisconsin
I'm heading up north Saturday for a 3 day weekend and have plans to hit up the Ale Asylum and the Great Dane.
Does anyone have suggestions on something/place I absolutely have to see or do this weekend?
It's the end of Madison craft beer week so I hope to be able to still get some of the Wisconsin Common collaboration beer on Sunday.
If anyone needs me to bring back some New Glarus for them I can. We can settle up Thursday at Bricks.

You need to hit Vintage Brewing Company. Besides great beer they are supposed to have great burgers with local beef. Maduro is always a winner too.

I'm back and man, I love Wisconsin.
The Grumpy Troll in Mt. Horeb had a bourbon barrel stout on cask which was delicious. We ate at Brocach, a Irish style bar in Monroe with a few locations in Madison. I'm not sure if it's a chain but nice anyway.
Everywhere I went had Ale Asylum on tap, I drank a a lot of Hopalicious. The Old Fashioned does indeed have awesome fried curds.
We took the tour of New Glarus yesterday and I picked up a case+ to share with friends. They had a hand numbered "Golden Ale" that was bottled in 2009 which is their "tribute to Orval", it's already gone. Sara got a 4-pack of their IIPA which surprised the hell out of me as she is not a beer drinker.
I spent way too much money on beer if there is such a thing. Stone, Lagunitas, Ale Asylum, Lost Abbey, Tiny by Weyerbacher and a boat load of New Glarus were in my haul.

Did you get your New Glarus at the brewery or the grocery store in New Glarus? The grocery store has the same stuff, but at lower prices.

I'm jealous. I too love the beer scene in Wisconsin. I stopped at Grumpy Troll last year and thought their beer was pretty good. And I love to pick up AA's Hopallicous when I'm up there.

I went to Steve's on University in Madison and then later in the day went to the brewery. I checked in and all of a sudden Facebook friends were asking for beer LOL. The brewery had speciality stuff there that doesn't go out to the stores so I'm glad I went.
I'll keep the store thing in mind but the prices were about the same.
The fruit beers were 75 cents cheaper at the brewery than they were in Madison. I'm not sure on the local grocery.

That's good. I got a couple of the Golden Ale's at my house that my boss got me at the brewery. Haven't tried it yet. Glad the prices are better. It use to be somoething like $10 at the brewery for a Belgian Red vs. $7.99 at the grocery store. Maybe they figured it out.

$9.25 for the Belgian Red and Raspberry tart at the brewery. I saw a bottle at a Monroe cheese shop later on for $8.79 but god knows how long it had been sitting there. I'm not quibbling.
