Cedar Rapids Brewing Society

I'd like to volunteer as a taster to anyone in the club that is looking for more detailed, structured feedback on their beers. I am willing to do an informal judging and fill out a BJCP score sheet for every beer you want me to. I can't guarantee my score will be reflective of what you would get in a competition, but I'm willing to guess that I can get it within 5 points.

I don't mean to supersede any other offers out there, for example I know we set aside time at the beginning of Tech meetings for tasting and feedback. I'm just trying to work on improving my palate this year and am looking for opportunities to practice judging beers. I figured if anyone else was looking for detailed feedback, this could be mutually beneficial.

I plan to be at the meeting tomorrow night around 8 pm.

as a neophyte brewer i'm sure i'll take you up on your offer on more than one occasion. thanks!

Correction -- I will most likely not be at the meeting tonight. I just found out that I have to take my father-in-law to the BBQ Roundup. If anyone has any beers they want me to score before next month, send me a PM and we'll work something out.

You made going to BBQ Roundup sound like capital punishment! Granted, it's not as much fun as a Beer Nuts meeting, but I can think of a whole lot of other things that would take a backseat to going to Roundup, like my job, yard work, house painting, etc.

BTW - Randy and I went to Roundup today for lunch. Had to check out my Homies from SC (one town over from where I grew up). Sorry to say, but I had to give them a C+. The ribs and brisket were good, but the pull pork was sweet, their "hot" sauce wasn't, and the coleslaw was weird (large chunks of cabbage in a horseradishy sauce.)

I also want to "improve my palate", and offering to drink your beer. I am also trying to improve my nacho palate. If anyone has nachos they'd like me too eat.
