Hey guys, I wanted to get your opinions on the new site.

http://beta.crbeernuts.org/

Is there anything you'd like me to add or change? Any input would be great.

Thanks!

Dave, that looks really good. Huge improvement. How will adding events be handled?

For the moment, yes.  I'm still looking into replacements, but I'd really like to be able to keep an email-list interface like we currently have.

I was wondering the same about the forums. That said, I don't have a problem w/ the forums as they currently exist. If it ain't broke... But overall, the new site looks awesome! Thanks for putting in the effort.

Nope.  We're using one of the last versions of phpbb2, which is the last to support the email interface.  It was never ported to phpbb3.

We've got a large number of people who pretty much do all their access via the mail gateway, so I've been trying to find a decent replacement that doesn't cost a huge sum of cash.

the forum is a great resource.. i hope before anyone decides to move to a new platform they consider the possibility of migrating content. it might not be pretty but it seems rather functional. the front end dave is working on is really the marketing face for the club. i would suggest we keep a clear message on the home page of who we are and what we do.

dave what CMS are you guys using for the beta? the design looks like one of the templates you can get so I'm not sure how much customization you did but the menu has some strange roll over behavior. also i cant get the flash to play in ie. otherwise it looks great.

I'm only considering forums that will import our existing data.  The forums won't happen for a while yet, maybe months.

Thought I'd try it with the ie7 we have installed here at the high tech company, and the pictures don't load. Of course, the solution is to not use ie7.
