CO2 bottles

Just a note... a freshly filled 5lb CO2 bottle is cold. 45 minutes later, behind the seat in 97 degree weather, they are not! In fact bystanders thought my pickup was on fire as the safety valve opened and filled the cab with a white fog. I watched, facinated, from inside the Quik Trip and then cursed a bit when I realized that 45 minutes was too long in this heat.

I had one of those, every time you need to get somewhere in a hurry, something will delay you days. I hadn't planned on taking more than 20 minutes back from Hawkeye, but it seems the route I chose was under construction and I wanted to get some soda before I got back to my AC, The time in the convenience store was the ten minutes too long. I will be aware in the future.

One other important thing. If the valve blows while you're in a car, you can quickly suffocate.
I'm very glad you're okay!

I checked and find that it was at least as hot in my garage where I store my spare cylinder, I moved my spare to my basement. It may have been the direct sun, I drove east and the afternoon sun was coming in the back window all the way home. I am grateful that that valve didn't let go while I was driving down Blair's Ferry, at about 3:00!

Will the valve need replacement before I can refill the cylinder?

So I found some corny kegs and now need a co2 tank, regulator, etc. Where is the best place to go for co2? Some places do a tank exchange program. Is it better to just buy a tank and have it filled or is the exchange program better?
Also I saw on the Hawkeye Fire web site that they sell regulators. Are they a good place to go to get them?

I've never purchased from them, but a lot of us get our bottles filled there.
I bought my bottle from Rapids.  They've got reasonably priced regulators and hose.
