so i've discovered the first beer i'd like to try to clone: James Pages Brewing - Burly Brown Ale. seems to be a pretty simple brown ale with some great roasted maltiness and the hint of hops. so how would i clone it as an extract or possibly mini-mash brewer?

any and all help is greatly appreciated! thanx!

Well, unless you have a recipe to start from, cloning is just making the same beer over and over, until you tweak it just right. I looked briefly, and did not see a clone recipe for this anywhere. I would start with a brown ale, and tweak from there.

The last time I tried to clone a beer, I contacted the brewer. If you do this, don't ask them how to clone their beer. You will get nowhere. Instead, come up with a recipe that seems close, and send it to them, asking for advice. Don't be surprised or offended, if they say no.

Also, do you have one of the brewing software packages, like BeerSmith? If you find the recipe and its all grain, the software will help you convert it to extract or partial/mini-mash.
