Brewing right now.  Picked my hops.  I got 13.5 oz magnum and 2.5# of cascade. Off the cuff recipe.
10.5# 2row
2# white wheat
1# crystal 40
1# corn sugar at flame out
2oz cascade pellet fwh
13.5 oz magnum wet 60 min
40oz cascade wet 15 to 0 min
Am I insane??  Anyone ever done this?  Shooting for 7 gallons post boil and hopefully get 5.5 in the carboy.
They say wet is 5:1 so if it were dry it would be 2.5 magnum and 8 cascade.  Both hops are 2nd year. On Aug 11, 2012 8:29 AM, "Steven P" <brew-brewing@crbeernuts.org (brew-brewing@crbeernuts.org)> wrote:

Too late to help you now, but curious how it went for you. I did a pick the hops and throw right in to the kettle about six years ago. I used a 6:1 ratio for the wet hops. The thing that caught me off guard was that I had no loss to evaporation during my boil. The moisture from the hops that were extracted during the boil off set my evaporation loss during the boil in the kettle. I ended up with a higher volume and lower grawvity than I expected. I was left with a watered down pale ale with a very odd hop character I did not care for. Haven't tried it since. I hope yours is much better than mine was.
