Brewery to open in Manchester
Brothers Chad and Kyle Sands bought the historic Masonic lodge building in downtown Manchester with plans to turn the first floor into a craft brewery and tap house. Manchester is 42 miles northeast of Cedar Rapids.
Renovations to the building will begin soon and opening day is slated for the spring of 2014. The Franklin Street Brewing Company will feature a wide variety of handcrafted ales and lagers, including award winning recipes, all locally brewed onsite. Seasonal and specialty beers will be on tap as well.
Beer selections include Franklin Street's award winning blonde ale (3rd place, 2012 Iowa State Fair, Blonde Ale category), their take on the classic American pale ale, a wonderfully smooth brown ale, and a tasty stout with a hint of chocolate. Seasonal beers to entice beer connoisseurs further will include styles such as a pumpkin ale in the fall, an Irish stout in March, and a light, summer ale with great Pilsner taste for July.
Franklin Street's specialty beers include their award winning Imperial IPA (2nd Place, 2012 Iowa State Fair, Imperial IPA category) and even an oaked stout for those with heartier tastes. For more information, visit www.franklinstreetbrewing.com.
