Received a letter yesterday about this event. Dave R and I went last year and had a good time. It is in downtown Waterloo in the events center. Lots of good food there. There is a homebrew contest. You pay nothing to enter and you get free admission to the event, a $45 value. Last year the featured speaker and judge was Bob Cannon from Sam Adams. This year it is Mark Stutrud, founder of Summit Brewing Co. Beer and food tasting runs from 4 to 6:30. You need enough beer for about 350 small samples or about a case of beer. You can take kegs or bottles. They come around to the table and you pour them beer in a glass for judging. This year they said they will have some volunteers to give you a break from pouring so you can enjoy the event too. Last year Dave and I just subbed for each other. I plan to go if it fits the calendar. Entries are due by February 15, 2013. They may cap the amount of entries so don't wait too long if you want in.

I plan on going again this year. Hopefully someone else will go too. It's a lot of fun.

Received email today that they are still looking for more entries. Entries are due by February 15. All you need to turn in by February 15 is the form. It is free and they give you a free ticket to the event ($45 value). You show up with your beer at the event. It can be in a keg or bottles. They recommend enough for 350 samples are about a case of beer. I took a keg last year and went through about the whole thing. Of course I was giving a few generous pours and had a few repeat customers I did not turn away.
