I have been asked to provide beer for my sister's wedding reception coming up Memorial weekend. It will only be a 20-25 person wedding and reception (including 9 kids). I am planning on 10 gal and another case or two of bottles. I want to bring up two kegs and serve in nice beer glasses that my sister is having made for the guests. I have the full keg set-up including two picnic taps but it's kind of ugly...so my plea to all my homebrew bretheren is: does anyone have a two tap jockey box I can rent for that weekend? I actually want to make one out of this cool Brew City Fries wooden crate I got but the $250 for all the parts sounds a bit steep. If anyone has a jockey box, or parts to build one, I will gladly pay so I can serve some quality beer to the party-goers.

BTW: the beers are Munich Helles and a Two Hearted Clone. How's that for opposite ends of the beer spectrum!

I wish I had built, borrowed or rented a JB for my wedding. I agree the picnic taps look a bit trashy, but I only had one 5 gallon keg and it was gone in less than 45 minutes

I have thought about making one out of my current SS wort chiller (I want to build a larger/longer copper one) and I have most of the components to build a single tap JB. If I built it soon enough and it meets your needs you are welcome to borrow it. I'd like to find an older cooler for cool factor as well.

I've got most of the pieces parts for one. It's got a 2-circuit cold plate. Sounds like a good reason to get the rest and put it together. It was for pop, so needs different faucets/shanks and new bev line - should be easy enough to pick up at Rapids. It's been taking up space in my basement for quite a while. Sounds like a good excuse to get off my butt and put it together. No guarantees how well it will work, but you're welcome to borrow it once I get it together.

So do folks out there know the pressure drop across a circuit in a cold plate. I'm curious how long of bev line I should get.

You mentioned your picnic-tap setup is ugly.  How nice does the jockey box need to look?  Is a cooler with taps ok, or do you want something nicer.

Well, I just wanted something a little neater looking than the picnic taps. Plus I would have to keep both kegs cold instead of just the cold plate. I actually want to build one but have the box only. If anyone wants to sell me some parts I would be interested. Otherwise I will take Tom or TappedOut up on the offer. (Sorry I don't know names very well, TappedOut). If you want to get rid of the parts to make the JB let me know. The cold plate and faucets are the biggest expense so any savings there would be awesome.

Here is the box. It has 2" styrofoam inside so would need to cut it down to 3/4" to 1" then glue some plastic on the inside and silicone seal it to make it waterproof. Cool box but have absolutely no use for it currently.

That would make an awesome tap box.

If you wanted something simple, you could just throw a cloth over the cooler and use some safety pins to add some 'flowing texture' to dress it up a little... perhaps one or two of the colors of the wedding party. We did this kind of stuff with banquets at the country club.

Tom, I would like to pick up the jockey box this weekend if I could so I can figure it out before I take it to the wedding. I will not be around the weekend of the 18th or I would ask for it then. Are you going to Benz? I could meet you there in the morning if that works. Otherwise I can get it some night. Just let me know.

I can bring it to Benz. The club uses the cold plate, but we can grab it after the festival. I'll see you there.

That's a good reminder.  I've been meaning to pick up a second one for the club, so we don't have to keep using yours.
