Just checked and they've posted the date for this year's festival in Independence - August 24th.

Do we have a place to describe beers we want to bring? I have two kegs ready for this.

This would be as good a place as any.

This will be a discussion item on next week's club meeting agenda. We need volunteers to work and to donate beers for this event.

If you've never been, it's a really fun time. At the end of the day, the BBQ vendors often trade us BBQ for beers!

I'll be willing to work and donate 5 gallons of beer.

I cannot attend and will not have any beer to donate. Getting ready for our festival though.

I'm going to be out of town for this event, again. Bummed, because this is a fun one.

Got 2 full kegs ready: Chocolate Obsession (double chocolate hazelnut beer from 2 years ago, those that were there) and a soon-to-be grapefruit shandy. I tried Stiegel Raddler grapefruit and was intrigued. Only non-lemon shandy I've tried. Thought I would try to make one.

I'm bringing 5 gallons of wit (brewing it right now).

They've contacted me about names and beer descriptions as they have in the past, to print in their programs.

Anyone else in?

I had hoped to brew a beer for it, but with my thumb injury, I have been out of commission for a couple of weeks, so no time left.

That said, I guess that I'll pony up the rest of my Furious batch for it.

Derek, it's called "Not Furious, Just PO'ed" and it's a Double IPA. I should have about 4 gallons.

Jim, do you have a beer name and description?

John, do you have a name for the Grapefruit Shandy?

Who's bringing what to the event? Club Box?

Anyone else planning on heading up to Independence Saturday (with or without beer)?

Sorry, I thought I had posted...  my beer is called "Rye-bel Alliance IPA" an IPA made with flaked rye and Millennium & Falconers Flight hops. On Aug 20, 2013 12:53 AM, "Derek" <brew-events@crbeernuts.org (brew-events@crbeernuts.org)> wrote:

The grapefruit shandy is "Fierce Monkey." My 9year old daughter named it. Seemed like as good a name as any.

I've added these beers to the beer list.

The weather is looking pretty warm, folks'll have a powerful thirst.

Reminder: the beer pouring doesn't start until 3pm and runs until 7pm, so plan accordingly.
