Some details for this years AHA conference has been released. Registration details can be found here:
http://www.ahaconference.org/conference/register/
A few significant changes for this year:
- 1) No more "Social Package". Cost for all AHA members is $220.
2) Grand Banquet tickets are separate, cost $65.
3) No more Pro Night. Thursday night consists of a "Reception and Toast" that ends at 7:30.
4) Registration will take place over a 1 week period in late February (TBA), and there will be a lottery. They expect that "most" people who want to go will be able to get tickets.
5) 4000 tickets available.
We plan to participate in Club Night (Friday 7:30-11pm). We'll be posting more details here soon.

Just requested the time off. Remember to brew early and brew often.

I also plan to go. I have time off from work and approval from my wife (even though it will be her birthday on the 14th).

I am at the mercy of the weather. I am planning on going, but the last day of school is now June 10th. I will have beer to send regardless. On Jan 14, 2014 12:59 PM, "brownbeard" <

Based on what I have heard about past events, I am not doing the banquet.

I also do not plan to attend the banquet. Maybe some day if I feel I have a potential medal winner in the running.

Count me in, but no banquet! Was not impressed by the one in San Diego.

If we get into a situation we are on a bus (this is in the works), and no one is going to the banquet, we could consider coming home saturday. it would save everyone a night in a hotel. We will be gone Wed, Thur, Fri nights for sure. Just a thought. We have lots of time for a decision like that. Other things are more urgent.
We are signed up for club night. And the cabinet worked on themes the other night at our meeting. The current favorite is an homage to copyright infringement.
We have decided that we should rent a bus this year. We are looking at a couple Ragbrai buses. If anyone has a connection on a bus, let us know. Charter bus is prohibitively expensive.

I am guessing this will be discussed at our upcoming meeting, but any idea how much beer we should bring? I don't think they do the golden urinal anymore for most kegs at the event.

I put down 25, as our estimate. But they will determine a max number of kegs, before the conference. We can go up to that max number.

Yeah, they dropped the "golden pissoire" award after the boys in Ames brought 500 gallons!!! to the Minnesota NHC.
Assuming that Brewing Network will have their usual pre-party on Tuesday night, we should plan to be there for that too. It's not to be missed!!
