Temp controller

This seems like good deal on the temp controller that I, and several other members use. Anyone looking to buold a keezer/fermentation chamber, take a look. Yes, you have to build it out, but it's really not that hard. there's plenty of step-by-step literature out there

The Amazon deal looks pretty good.

Do you know if it uses a thermistor and, if so, is it included?

I want to get an STC-1000 and should buy this one whiles it's cheaper than usual for when I find a deal on a chest freezer to use as fermenting/conditioning

I believe it is a thermistor. One of the pictures at Amazon showed it bundled up next to the controller, so I assume it's included. I ordered one and should get it today. I'll let you know if it's not included.

Upon closer inspection, one of the pictures does include the sensor.

I'm curious and to what you discover when you receive it. There were 6 one-star ratings, most stating the unit did not work out of the box and that they waited too long to test and could not return the units.

If you have an ohm meter and a power cord (an old lamp cord would be ideal and you can buy new ones at Menards), it should be easy to test this unit quickly. If you do not have an ohm meter, I can lend you mine.

I got one of these off ebay, and built it up. Very easy to assemble. Mine did come with the temp sensor, and seems to be very accurate. I just followed the directions for the build from the huge thread on homebrewtalk.com. I'd say Amazon is the way to go. Mine was shipped directly from China, and if it had been DOA, it might have been a PITA to get replaced...certainly not as easy as Amazon!

Just make sure you get the 120v versions... There are also other single stage controllers that are cheaper (heat OR cool only)
