Anyone know of a good meat locker to get meat packages from? I am looking to get a large amount of beef and maybe some pork. Thought this would be a good venue for this type of question. Thanks y'all!

My wife's cousin raises cattle for the family plus some extra but we usually butcher once per year in January. They are hormone free which is nice. I could post next time we are getting ready to move some beef. Haven't bought much beef at the store in over 10 years. Won't help you now though. We get them processed at a locker in Edgewood, IA that is really good. Maybe they could help you out.
We get a half hog from an organic farmer near Grinnell every June. Great hogs and the locker we use in Malcolm does amazing smoked hams and bacon with it. I could get you their contact info if interested.

Yeah that would cool. I don't want to buy @ the store anymore. Prices just went way up.
I know of the Edgewood locker being from the Winthrop area originally.

I second the buy from a farmer. My father in law does beefs periodically through year, I think is been a good 6 or 7 years since we bought beef at a store. Most of the time we use the walker locker but have also had very good luck with the Edgewood locker. I would easily feel comfortable recommending either locker.

We have been cutting back on beef for a few years now. I hardly ever eat it anymore. Prices are just ridiculous. I get the best prices on meat at Sam's Club. Mind you, I am not looking for organic or anything like that.

Beef has gotten pricey. I took a 1/4 (or as they say at the butcher shop a half of a half) for $805 last year. Granted it was the biggest damn cow I have ever sent to butcher and that meat lasts my family of 6 for over a year. We eat beef frequently. Nice thing is you have it your way so that price includes a lot of fantastic steaks and the best hamburger I have ever had.

I will let you know. We usually grab one in the summer once we have eaten enough beef to free up some freezer space.
