Brew Session & Tasting at Franklin's August 2, 2014

UPDATE: Brew sessison starts around 4pm.

Tentative plans right now, but I would like to host a brew session and tasting party Saturday, August 2, 2014. My wife will be in Boundary Waters so no way she can interrupt me. I would start with a brew session earlier in the day, say noonish. Many people have said they would like to see my system up and running. For those not familiar, I use a HERMS coil in an electric HLT, natural gas burner for the boil, whirlpool immersion chiller, and system is in my basement. We could finish the night around my fire pit if the weather cooperates. I am thinking people could bring over some beers, homebrew or commercial, to share. You can stop by anytime during the session as even when we are done I plan to be drinking some good beers. Probably run late in to the night. May turn in to a pot luck. People could bring food to share. Bring some meat to toss on the grill, or we could order some pizza or something. You don’t have to stick around if you can’t. I know many will be at Great Taste the next weekend. Come for the brew session, or the tasting after, or both. Basically an open door for folks. Maybe we will get real ambitious and play a movie on the big screen by the fire pit.

I will follow up here as plans become concrete.

I also have guest room accomodations and plenty of room if someone wants to pitch a tent and camp. Easier to sleep in the house, but I have a pop-up camper I could open up for more space. My daughter's girl scout troops pitch several tents in the yard at the end of the school year for a campout so it wouldn't be the first time it was a campground.

Also, even though I am posting in Member's only, this event is open to anybody. If you want to bring a guest feel free.

Sounds like an awesome time, but bad timing for me. That's my Colorado backpack trip. Thanks, anyway.

Me, too, unfortunately. It's the same weekend as my 40th, yes 40th!, high school re-union back in SC.

Brought back lots of crazy beers from Binny's, too!

My dad is watching my kids Saturday night so this event is a go. I will start brewing around 4pm and should be done by 10pm. Probably do a Saisonish type beer. Again, basically an open door. Feel free to come and go at anytime.

Bring some beer and food to share if you can. I have two beers on tap, smoked porter and brett pale ale. Lots of nice commercial beers in the fridge too.

If you are unfamiliar with where I live, here are directions. Call if you are coming really late and want to see if we are still going. Probably will be.

Wife is going to be recovering from knee surgery, so I may be there. Depends on how she is doing.
