Off Flavor Training Tech Meeting

Post by DrPaulsen »

The next 3 or 4 Tech Meetings I have planned will be a series of Off Flavor training exercises. The club purchased a kit from Flavor Activ (similar to the Siebel kits) with 20 off-flavors. Each capsule has to be dissolved in 1L of a lightly flavored beer (likely a 40 of BMC Light). The goal of these meetings is two-fold. First, being able to identify off flavors more clearly will help each of us become better brewers. Second, it will improve the quality of our comp judging.

Quinton has again agreed to let us hold these meetings at Lion Bridge. I'll work with him to schedule the meetings - I would expect the first to be in late September or early October.

Outstanding! We've been talking about doing this for quite some time and I'm glad we're finally going to do it. It's nice to have the funds in the kitty to be able to do these kinds of things. It makes us a much better club for it.

Great, I was just debating doing some 'wrong' things to a bottle here and there to experiment and see what the mistakes taste like - post fermentation O2, hot side o2, hifh ferm temp.
