I am sure someone out there has a desire to upgrade their current stuff, or has some sitting around, wasting space, just hoping to turn it into cash to fund even more beer! I'm looking for to move from 5-gal partial vol. extract to all-Grain.
  • XX Kettle
    XX BIAB bag
    XX Soda bottle carbonating lid
    22oz bottles
I'm also going to build an 8.8ft3 keezer with collar in not too long, so I need everything that goes into that. if you have various stuff laying around to get rid of, let me know. I've done a fair amount of reading but I'm no expert. I'll just buy whatever I don't have when I start the project in 2 months (have to build some furniture for the kids first).
  • faucet handles
XX tap faucets and mounting hardware
    XX CO2 tank, 10lb
    XX CO2 regulator
    CO2 gas manifold , mfl, w/backflow check
    XX Temperature regulator
    XX chest freezer
    XX Misc. hardware/tubing/connections
postscript: No font option for "strikeout", so using XX

Johnson controls model a419 is what I used for my keezer. Works like a champ! I also would suggest homebrewfinds.com. great place to find cheap prices!

Thanks, I'll check that site out. I've also seen some interesting work being done on a reverse-engineered firmware for the STC-1000 to allow programmable temperature schedules and more, and it has 2 outputs from the same device (one for heat, one for cold)

That's really cool. A couple of years ago I built 2 temp controlers using STC-1000's. I'm totally going to look into this firware hack. One thing I've always wanted was to have them ramp Temps on their own.

Ok, the Black Box guy sells reprogrammed controllers for $30. I'm going that route since I'd need to buy an Ardino and spend a fair amount of time tinkering. I don't even know if either of my controllers are the right version. His price is extremely reasonable.

The $55 Black Box is sold out right now. I am going to keep an eye on this; for $55 I won't even bother to assemble myself.

Ya, it's kind of semi-permanently sold out. No telling how large the email-announce list is, and apparently it sells out in minutes when a batch is ready -- this implies that it is priced too low! :)

I have a black box and like it A LOT! I got in just before that site was built and it took off!

Yes, I think he's under selling it. It's a steal at that price. Every other controller anywhere near that price is single channel. Then there's the set points and ramping which blows everything away that's not several hundred $.

I had around $45 or $50 in parts for each of my STC-1000 builds and they lack F displays and the programmability.

He could charge $100 and it would still be worth it.

Since he still has none for sale, I am probably gonif to order parts soon. Looks like I will have extra plugs and stuff if anyone else also is going to build one as they come in 5-packs.

FYI he sells flashed units, you assemble

I have an STC 1000, box, plug I never assembled because I found this. I cut the holes, but that is it. If you want it all you can have it. I will never assemble it and have no issues paying it forward.

Sure, that would be great!
Is your STC-1000 flashed, or unflashed but flashable, or unflashable (if you know)?
I'm planning to be at the meeting next week, and the brew fest, unless my wife gets her way and goes into labor early.

I have no idea if it's flashable it was bought off amazon.

I can dig it all out of the drawer and bring it to this months meeting for ya. I am in Marion over by Linn Grove if that is near you. You are welcome to come get it if you want it sooner.

Meeting works, I have other things I have to build first.
Here's info on flashable/not:

To determine the version of controller you have, open the controller as shown in the video above at about 2:47. Once you have the board visible, look at the location highlighted below; if the board says A400_P, Version: 1.0 you have the correct board and can flash. If it says something else (the most common "bad" board says S1000-Power_V1.1), there is not currently a way to flash it.
