Anybody else heard of these guys? Starting a wild ale farmhouse brewery in Des Moines. Similar to an idea I had in the back of my head. Sounds very promising. Looking forward to having a dedicated local farmhouse brewery in the land of the farmhouse.

That is an interesting way to start a brewery. It should be interesting to see how it goes.

There have been a fair number of startup breweries that have tried this or similar "community funded" approaches, they rarely work. We'll see. I'd have a hard time justifying spending $350 on a membership if they were Cantllion, let alone a total unknown.

The fund raising isn't what interested me. We have seen that all over. I like them doing something similar to Mystic in Maine. Focus resources on sour and wild fermentation barrels and tanks if you can find a brew house willing and with capacity to brew wort.

Yeah I've seen a few fundraising breweries and they are hit or miss on success, I think $350 is high and no way I'd jump on unless I knew them and have had their brews before. I thought it was interesting that they are starting out contracting the wort production out (like Matt said), then eventually getting their brew house setup.

Yes, that's what originally I found cool. Just hope it's not like that place (in Colorado?) where you can only buy beers if you are a member. I'm not going to pay $350 per year just to have the option to spend even more to actually buy beers.
