BIY is now taking pre-orders for hop rhizomes. If you have got rhizomes with us in the past, then you know how good they are! 10 varieties to choose from, available to pre-order online or in either BIY store location. Here's the link with some more info:

Orders must be placed by March 20th to get in on the order. After that, we can't get them anymore--so make it happen if you're wanting to try out your green thumb on the vines of the gods!

Who in the club grows hops and what variety? I'd like to try one (cascade mainly) and once it produces it will be far more than I can use up. Was thinking a trade to get a variety of homegrown hops eventually in a couple years.

I have a mature cascade plant. I usually get around 2 lbs of dried hops off it every year. It does very well in this climate. Needs lots of sun, lots of water, and good drainage.

I tried to grow Willamette, but it died the second winter. I've not tried again.

One thing to keep in mind, hop plants don't produce for the first year, only a little the second, so it's a 3 year buy-in before you see any significant crop.

Yeah I've read up on the long wait for a good crop.

Really easy to get free chunks of the cascade I started years ago. That is where Tony's came from.

If folks want cascade, there are several of us in the club that have mature plants that we'd be happy to dig up a chunk for you come springtime; like Matt did for several of us.

I'd be interested in getting a chunk of cascade, probably will get in on the pre-buy too

I'm in on some club cascade and I'll order another from Joe next week when I get my 60 ingredients.
