Burner questions
Buying a couple used brew pots and need a new burner to accommodate them. Any recommendations? Also in the market for a grain crusher. Also willing to buy used.
Re: Burner questions
Did you read the post about induction burners?

I have the Blichmann burner, converted to natural gas, in the new brew room in my basement. It works great.

Re: Burner questions
I am buying used brewpots and they arent going to work with induction unfortunately and i have a subpar burner right now. Northern Brewer has 20% off thru Friday. I was looking at the Edelmetal burner. Blichman is an option as well, but those can't be discounted. So i am leaning towards the Edelmetal but still torn.
Re: Burner questions
Here is what I use which works if you have your own stand.

There is also with stand. About the same as the Blichmann and Edelmetal function wise. Lacks the nicer stainless and copper but cheaper.

Also, for 5 gallon batches, a 30k Btu camp chef stove works. I used a two burner one until I bumped up to 10 gallons and wanted more power.

Re: Burner questions
I've got the bayou kab6... it's a little too big for a keggle. If I did it again I'd probably buy the cast iron banjo burner and throw together some support structure.

I have this one and like it for the money and it's efficient and quiet like the big brother banjo

Hell if I know
Re: Burner questions
Me neither, I started with a burner that came with my Turkey fresher, it was loud, sounded like a jet engine but worked no problem for the keggle

Re: Burner questions
That's what I have now, but need to upgrade
Re: Burner questions
Any ring style burner big enough should work. If you have natural gas, go with that if you can. They are quiet like a gas kitchen stove.

Both the Blichman and 'edelmetal' (which is just Northern Brewer's fancy sounding name from their marketing guys for their own product) use the same, or equivalent, Hurricane burner in them. I have the blichman and am impressed with quality and stability with large kettles. NB basically saw how popular it was, and just made a lower build-quality, and lower cost, competitor. The flame and heat should be identical.
