Here's the good news in that story - The first batches will be packaged in early May and sent back to Iowa. The increased production will allow the brewery to meet in-state demand and fill orders in Illinois and Wisconsin. Eventually, distribution will be expanded to Minnesota."
At first, I went "HUH?" - why brew in FL and ship all the way back up here - didn't seem to make sense economically?? But, the article goes on to say that Brew Hub is building a bigger facility in St. Louis, which will be making the TG beers when it opens sometime next year. The FL facility will continue to brew TG and distribute within FL.

Interesting deal, hope it makes it more available and not just their "popular" brews, but maybe we can get our hands on some special or even limited edition stuff without having to go on a 2 hour road trip (which I have done a few times)

So I heard last week some rumors of, err, a staffing shuffle at TG as well. Given the nature of that supposed change one wonders if these events aren't connected somehow, as they're both pretty big decisions.
I see how contract brewing will work out in the short-term to meet the demand but you'd think it'd be more cost efficient to steadily build out the brewery to meet demand organically. Then again I suppose if the market tanks they won't be left holding the note on several hundred grand in stainless equipment lol.

They've been expanding quite a bit the last few years if I'm not mistaken. I totally understand contract brewing. That's how Backpocket stays afloat. It's not because of their quality beers.

So, to be clear, the rumor was something like :" cofounder/head brewer leaves Toppling Goliath, perhaps with bad blood".
Since we hear jack and squat about TG reality here - let alone get the beer brewed under such dramas - I'm just positing this new contract brewing deal may have been part of the recent fallout. Until then, I am just relaying some of the fine barstool gossip I come across on my daily shenanigans.

Here is a link to a little discussion we had about that opening. Certainly something afoot in Decorah.
