Who here belongs to the American Homebrewers Association? Are the benefits worth it?

I joined to go to NCH last year [membership is a requirement to join].

Otherwise you get zymurgy magazine as well as access to their forum, presentations from NHC [back to 2012], and discounts on some books [although amazon is mostly cheaper then the discounts and shipping].

Otherwise you support the AHA which spends some time with legislative efforts; writing and managing the beer styles guidelines, etc.

NHC would be cool, but most likely a little too overwhelming for me.

Do you like to drink lots of great beer and talk to other folks who like to drink great beers? If so, then NHC is not overwhelming.

It really is a great experience. Hence, the reason that I keep going back! This will be my 4th NHC. Never gets old.

It is like a huge beer festival with just the beer geeks. None of the "Dude give me your strongest shit" crowd. Everyone knows beer. It is awesome!

That does sound pretty awesome. Good beer should help ease the crowd anxiety. Where is it this year?

Crowd is very friendly and plenty of room at the last one. Plus beer everywhere for free damn near everywhere you turn. And now crappy stuff either.
