Madison Road Trip - Tentatively Weekend of June 11

The Cabinet is planning a road trip to Madison, Wisconsin, for the purpose of visiting a variety of brewery taprooms and other establishments associated with craft beers.

The dates for this trip are June 11-12 and:
1) Involve a Saturday over night stay, returning on Sun.
2) Will involve recruiting individuals to be our designated driver(s) and conscripting (or renting) one or two vans or a bus for the trip.
3) Costs of transportation to/from Madison will be paid for by the club, all other costs are paid by individual attendees (hotel, taxi, etc.)
4) You would be on your own for personal consumables (meals and beers).

To help us plan the details, we need to know who is interested and who can assist....

First, we need to know how many of you would be interested in attending?

Who can provide a vehicle, preferably a van? Or a bus along with the necessary driver's license requirements?

How many of you are willing to be a driver (drivers will not be allowed to drink until we have reached the final destination of the day, and the vehicle is parked until Morning)? We should be able to tag team this task....I know I would give a day of quaffing in exchange for accessing Madison's finest....and if someone did it the next day so I could sample while on the road....that would work for me.

And, any thoughts you have as to how to best execute this program is encouraged and appreciated.

That's over 200 miles north of Madison WI, so probably not on the radar. But if it were closer, that would have been a happy coincidence.

I can work through some cost scenarios for this trip, but I need to know where we are going.

Can anyone suggest a list of "must see" breweries between Cedar Rapids and Madison and in the greater Madison area?

I could make a suggested itinerary. I planned and executed a Madison trip back in 2008 that went really well. I will do soma research tonight. Some places open earlier than others which helps direct where you go. Food is better at some places than others too which can impact timing.
