September 25th - Beer Nuts Happy Hour at Lion Bridge Sign-up

Post by daryl »

The club will host another Beer Nuts Happy Hour at Lion Bridge on Sunday, September 25th.

We will be pouring from 3 PM to 5 PM (or 6+ ish).

What is needed:

1) Volunteer workers; 2 minimum, but 3-4 would be good

2) Beer contributions; in bottles and/or growlers; kegs are acceptable but you will need to bring everything you need to dispense from your keg/kegs - LB can provide with some ice and a tub or two to hold the bottles/growlers. We will pour for two hours, and in 2 oz samples; so we will not need tons of beer, but it is nice to have 4-6+ varieties that we could offer. And, if you like, we can go past 5 PM, but that will be up to the volunteers and I would cut it off no later than 5:30 or 6:00 PM - it is up to you.

You can volunteer to pour and not contribute beer; you can contribute beer and not attend (but please provide us with a description of your beer and/or recipe and any other information you think someone would be interested in knowing about your beer).

You can sign-up here by responding to this post, to volunteer your time and/or beer.

Let's meet at LB around 2:30 PM to set-up and be ready to go at 3 PM.

It has been suggested, and I agree, that one way to improve your brewing skills is to seek every opportunity that you can to pour and share your work with others. This one of those opportunities provided by your club and you will have at least one opportunity each month, to do so.

And remember, bringing beer and pouring at this April event will enter you in the year-end drawing for a $50 gift certificate from BIY.

As always, don't be shy to PM me with questions/concerns/suggestions.

Cheers,
Daryl

Sorry, gonna be out of town for this one. Should have my Baltic Porter for the October one.

I am available to pour for this event and I should be able to find a few bottles of beer to bring along to pour.

Lion Bridge is closed for Sunday in anticipation of the Cedar River flooding - and they are preparing themselves for that event. Therefore the Beer Nuts Happy Hour will be postponed.

They have posted on their Facebook page:

Thank you for all the calls and offers to help! Right now, if you would like to help, please go to the NewBo City Market and help with filling some sandbags! Many businesses in the area (including us!) will need them in the next few days. Thank you so much, this community is amazing.

I have asked them if the Beer Nuts Membership can assist them directly. I will pass along to you anything I get back from the McClains.

If you have time and the ability, please consider putting some time sandbagging at NewBo.

My neighbor called me yesterday afternoon to tell me about the flooding. I'd love to help, but I am out of town until Monday. Keep me posted on LBB and NewBo developments.

I contacted Benz this afternoon to see if they could use our help.

The gal on the phone invited us to come down and sandbag at Benz - they are working behind Benz.

And if they are full there, she said they are sandbagging at Iowa Brewing Company too.

So if you have some free time, grab a shovel or two and head down to pitch-in.
