Grain Order 2017 Q&A

Post by Matt F »

Hi folks,

We are close to finalizing plans for a club grain order in 2017. We hope to have something in place by the April Meeting so people can order base malts and be restocked for our festival in August and maybe even some brews for Homebrew Con mid-June. In the interim, don't forget your local BIY to fill the gap. Forthcoming details will be at the April meeting as well as the "Members Only" section of the forum accessible to current paying members. Your member dues must be current to participate in the grain order.

*EDIT* Use this thread for any question/comments

The delay in the grain order this year is because our previous partner, Turner Alley, is no longer available to help us with this. We are working on a couple options right now. If anyone has access to a commercial space where pallets of grain can be unloaded that would give us a third option. PM if you have something in that realm that may be available.

I have a HUGE garage and if it can be dropped (or borrow my trailer) at my place. All I have to do is have a vehicle parked outside until the grain is picked up. I'd be happy to help, take cash payments, etc provided this is all pick up in short order and I am not storing it for weeks.

We can talk more tonight at the meeting. Seems like a simple solution and we don't have to rely on business hours.

Think you have to have a loading dock and commercial address. If could do at you place that would be ideal. Thanks Chris. This may give us some options.

Don't see why it can't be unloaded onto a trailer at say my work parking lot (no loading dock) and hauled to my place. ??? I mean LB doesn't have a dock.

Anyway the offer is there.

We may be doing something like that. Would be great to use your garage. We usually get three to four pallets and could unload those by hand with enough guys. I sorted the entire order and restacked in 1.5 hours last year. That was close to 3,000 lbs. of grain.

Not a problem at all. Friend has a trailer that could get all that grain in one shot easy. I just do not have a vehicle to tow that much. Offer stands, keep me posted
