Witbier Competition - Call for Judges

Post by daryl »

This is the call for judges, to judge the submissions for this quarter's club competition.

Location will be either Another Road Tap Room in Marion or the Iowa Brewing Company - both are friendly for bottle-sharing.

The potential dates are:

Wed. April 26, starting at 8 PM.
Thu. April 27, starting at 8 PM.

We can get by with 4, but six is better. It is good to have a steward or two as well.

Please post if you can judge on one or both of these dates; and state your desired starting time....seems we have member with commitments up to 8 PM.

If you are new to judging, Witbier is a good style for beginners....don't be shy. It's fun and tasty, and there will be experienced judges participating that will help you along the way.
In the Fridge/On Tap: English Bitter, Schwarzbier, Cream Ale
In the keg: Wheat Beer, Russian Imperial Stout
In the bucket:
In the queue: Irish Red, American IPA

I have an entry that I need to get to someone since I couldn't make the meeting last week.

Shoot! Looks like I'm going to need to be out of town on business on Thursday and Friday. I guess I'll need to back out for this week.

I have four judges and a steward - so we will judge the Witbier entries tonight at 7 PM.

Tentatively at Another Road Brewery in Marion. I have a request in, if that doesn't work out, I'll know we can find another location quickly.

Check here for updates later this afternoon.

Definitely at Another Road. We'll start there, if we get the boot....it's not like the first time any of us have been tossed out of a bar.....Right Taco?

So how'd it go? I hope we don't have to wait until the next meeting for results...

Geez Randy, I thought I might get at least 24 hours to post the results!

But to answer your question.....the judging went well, we had four judges and one steward, and judged a total of 8 entries.

What remains is for me to audit the scoresheets and make sure all of our additions and rankings are correct...the scoring was really, really tight in the top-half rankings and I don't want to screw-up.

We certainly do not want to rock the state of Iowa with a Beer Nuts version of the Best Picture Award debacle now do we?

I should have them up either tonight or tomorrow.
