Madeira Beach Brewery at John's Pass Village and Boardwalk...has some good beer....you can quaff while your wife shops.
Wanted to go to Mastery's, but didn't make it.
Depending upon where you are staying, you can use the Trolley to get around...they run about every 20-40 minutes...$5 per person...all day pass.
The one that runs through Madeira Beach will take you up to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium....you can see Winter..
http://www.seewinter.com/ (from the movie Dolphin Tale). It is a nice aquarium, if you like taking in that sort of thing.

Check out the Rate Beer places. I generally find their list of places and rankings is a good way to go.

When we vacationed there about 2 years ago, the only one I had time to go to was the Mad Beach one at Madiera Beach. I thought the beer there was quite good, but it appears that many disagree with me. It's on the top floor of a touristy shopping mall and you can have the rest of the family off shopping when you get comfortably numb. I know I did that!
At least when I was there they also made meads and once I told them I was a homebrewer and also made meads (and bought a flight of 5 beers) they sort of brought me flight glasses of their three meads too for free. So I really did get pretty numb.
One thing you must try if they have it (and again they brought me this for free, too, since they didn't successfully talk me into buying it with the flight) is the sweet potato ale. It sounds pretty disgusting but it was literally probably the best beer I had when there.
But.. yeah, since you don't have a wife who is pretty militarily against the hobby like mine is I would DEFINATELY to Cigar City. Their beers are good, but for all the hype Jai Alai disppointed me (I had quite a few from the local bottle shops and groceries when I was there).
IIRC there are about 5-6 microbreweries/tap rooms in the Tampa metro area that are considered "good". I rather like the area. We stayed at Indian Shores which was pretty damned nice. There is a good independent coffee shop/roaster there too.
Fred
P.S. We saw Winter, too.

Was at Mad Beach Brewery...had the Meads...they were decent, but once you've had Pat's, most of the others are so-so. And I second Fred's recommendation on the Sweet Potato Ale...it was good...and they had a Salted Caramel, which of course I had to have, and it was good.

They were on the experimental brewing podcast this week. They had also done colabs with places like crooked stave, jolly pumpkin.
